The New Car

DSC07944At the end of last year we were looking forward  to expecting a child and realized Austin would be gone two nights a week in Salt Lake for his MBA in the Fall. I started to feel like maybe we should get another car. Then, Austin was given the assignment on the high council over the Young Women of the stake. I teased him that he couldn’t be given the assignment because he didn’t have a truck. Every year the Young Women head up to camp MIA Shalom (10,000 feet elevation) and people previous to him in the assignment were the ones who hauled up all of the equipment. So…maybe we should get a new car.

DSC07945Then, I was called to be the Young Women’s president of our ward. Every week we have an activity on Thursday night. No problem now, but in the Fall, Cade will be a friend’s house every Thursday. I just couldn’t see myself dropping him off with the stroller in the middle of winter and picking him at 9 p.m. and still have to walk home!

So a new car was definitely in the planning. We knew in order to haul the equipment to camp Austin needed something heavy-duty. We could either get a truck (F250, Silverado, Ram 2500), or an SUV (Suburban, or Yukon XL/Denali). These were the only ones with the hauling capacity we needed. We debated and researched. That took the majority of our time as we did it for several months.

DSC07938Finally we narrowed it down to an SUV. Thankfully, it only took us two test drives to find our new Suburban. It’s a 2003 and has some fun features (like a DVD player and an awesome sound system). We got a killer deal on it from Wasatch Auto Group (if you go there, make sure to mention we sent you ;-) Now, every time we go somewhere, Cadence asks to go “in the white car”. He loves it :) We are so grateful things seemed to fit together perfectly. We just didn’t have the time to test drive a bunch of cars. The car has already been a great blessing to our family and we hope it will be to our friends too!

I can't believe you guys have a Suburban! Crazy! Didn't picture you or us to be owning such a big car so soon. It's going to be so useful though. Good for you guys! :)
