Spring Break Family Time

Austin had Spring Break this past week. Instead of filling in all the holes with work, he decided to keep one slot of time that he regularly gives to school (Tuesday afternoon & evening) to some family time. We decided to use the Discovery Gateway Museum tickets that we had, while Kory was still free! It was a wonderful day together & the boys had a blast discovering!

They had a simulation beehive with balls. Don't ask me how it's like a beehive because there was a serious lack of actual information about it. STILL, the boys had a great time playing with the balls.

Kory the little percussionist

They have a whole village that is just the right size for kids. Here is the kitchen, inside the house. It's probably more Cadence's size, but Kory LOVED that he could actually reach the table!

Austin on the child-size crane - lol!
They  have blue prints on the wall for mini-buildings you can construct. Daddy & Cadence had a blast building one together!

Kory spent his time playing with the tools and the hard hat. He also enjoyed loading up the wagon, even with himself.

Cadence had a great time at the "mini-mart".

I thought it was unusual that everything was miniature, except the horse. Still, Kory was thrilled to be on one!

A miniature car, right next to the gas station.

Upstairs they have more building and technology. Here is Cadence playing around on a blue screen? Can you spot him?

Mommy & Kory - some cool magnetic wheels that actually turn together!

Good thing we found the train table last, because it was all Cadence wanted to do!

Jump the Jiggles Out!

With two happy, energetic little boys, I'm so grateful we now have a trampoline! They have a blast jumping. Even Kory bounces on his bum and occasionally tries to stand and jump. We often jump with them, but occasionally I close in them safely in the net and work on the yard. It's great!
The unfortunate thing is, while I finally got some great pictures of the boys jumping, I left my camera outside on the trampoline. Of course that is when the snow finally decided to show it's face after such a dry month! My poor camera.
Thankfully, I was able to retrieve the pictures and can still occasionally take some shots. The battery is pretty shot though. Don't be surprised to see less posting. I've got to deal with a partially dead camera, while we save for an awesome one.

Our Dear Pediatrician

Gregory William Nielsen Obituary: View Gregory Nielsen's Obituary by Deseret News

We are so shocked, as I'm sure most everyone is, by the passing of our pediatrician, Dr. Nielsen. He was recommended to us when our first son was born 3 yrs ago. We got to see him at least every two months, for 3 years, through the infancy of our two sons. He always seemed so easy going and happy. My typical concerns as a first time mom (and even the second time around) were always eased by his quick smile and laugh. He would offer his knowledge & expertise when I asked questions, but always made me feel like I was the one who got to choose what to do. He was always quick to apologize if he couldn't personally see us. I remember everyone in the office would call him the "gentle giant". His height never intimidated us because we always saw him on the rolling chair. Every visit he'd gently encourage the boys to laugh to put them at ease with all of the poking and prodding doctor's have to do. I also remember several visits he had pre-med students attending BYU with him. He has been a great mentor and guide for me as a mother and my boys through their infancy. We will dearly miss him. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at the this time.

Cadence Loves Puppet Shows

Cadence really loves the puppet show every week at the library. I decided it would be fun to make our own, so we grabbed a curtain rod, shower curtain, and his favorite stuffed animals. In this episode, Elmo will play a game with you. Your mission: To help him find Cookie Monster!
I love the little voices he includes too!

Kory Plays Ball

Kory LOVES to play ball now! I love how excited he gets while doing it. He'll often bring me a ball and just wait for me to throw it. He's learned the sign for "ball" as well (though it's not much different from him signing "more").
