Austin's 25th Birthday

I have to admit, it wasn't too exciting this year. Austin got his present early, picked it out himself, and it wasn't a surprise. Of course, turning a quarter-of-a-century kind of made Austin feel old (I don't even want to think about getting there at the end of the year) so maybe the down play was good this year.
We did end up at Tucanos for lunch - yummy Brazilian BBQ (though we both agree it's better in Brazil).
My favorite is the grilled pineapple (YUM!) but only if it's still hot. Cadence actually slept the whole time, which shocked me because it was so loud! We were pretty full after the meal, but I still had a sweet tooth. The desserts are HUGE!! so we asked the waitress if I could get a "birthday sundae" and she brought one out for no extra charge!
It was a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Republican Convention

I have been waiting awhile to put this post up, mostly because I can't do it justice. Austin knows much more about the political process. Alas, he is a busy guy and hasn't gotten around to doing it. So here is my full-hearted (but really not do it justice) effort.
Our friend Matt Thompson ran at this convention for Utah County Republican Party Secretary. We spent (well mostly Austin) a lot of time sending emails, making phone calls, sending letters, etc. to help with his campaign. We had a lot of fun and were really happy when it was over (only because it was exhausting)! Matt & Elise, to show their appreciation, took us to Jose Veras for dinner that night.
Cadence got a lot of comments during the convention. He really did a good job being a happy baby. Most people loved the outfit choice for the day!
Anytime someone would comment on his outfit, he would start talking to them (his own little campaign trail).
One guy even said "Starting them kind of early don't you think?" I hope our kids from a young age learn to love their country and be involved (though I must say I am still learning myself).

Tuesday Project Group

Now that Cadence is a little older, we have rejoined our Tuesday Project Group! Every Tuesday from 9-11 a.m. Cadence goes and plays with the kids while mom works with some sisters in the ward on a project such as painting, cleaning, etc. This week it was at our house and we cleaned up the yard for spring.

All of the little kids watched Monsters, Inc. inside while the moms worked. After a little while, some of the kids just wanted to play outside, so I organized and "Easter Egg" hunt (except the eggs were really pine cones). They were such big helpers!

Cadence really enjoyed being outside. It was his first time really spending time outside when we weren't going anywhere. It took a little bit of an adjustment (you can tell he is a winter baby), but he really liked observing all that was going on. Now our yard looks great and we are off to help someone else with their house next week! Thanks ladies!

One active baby!

I remember having a two week old baby (never having a child before I wouldn't know any different) and everyone telling me how active he was. Even to this day (that phrase makes it sound longer than it is) he doesn't sleep as long as an average infant his age and he is always going! Most recently, he has figure out that he can move his legs! Some might say the spastic nature of the movements is due to his just learning this skill, or maybe built up energy. I think maybe it's at least partially due to his mom's spastic responses when he does stuff like this. Ether way, he continues to be one energizer bunny - who keeps going, and going, and going... All of this movement ended up being a precursor to another growth spurt - which means more sleep and lots more eating (even with the more sleep for baby, mom is still tired). He's a healthy growing boy! Just what we prayed for :)

Roll Over!

Cadence and I have been practicing rolling over for a couple of weeks now. He was getting so good at it that we let him try it today by himself. We were successful! He's still a little rusty, but it gets easier every time. I was glad that we had the camera for his first time!

Easter Weekend

We had a fun-filled, CRAZY Easter weekend!
We were exhausted by the end but had a lot of fun.

Ian, Cristina, & Atley came down for the weekend. Taylor also stopped by for awhile on Saturday. Here are some fun pictures! Atley just loves Cadence! He couldn't stop looking at him and touching him!
Here they are holding hands! HOW CUTE!
Austin had a lot of help from friends (Kory, Matt, Joseph) in taking down the deck and cleaning out the backyard. This isn't even all of the stuff they had to take to the dump!
Now it's more of a wooden porch than a deck, but it looks much nicer! GOOD JOB GUYS!
My wonderful husband asked me to go with him to the BYU Alumni Ball. We had a lot of fun, while Cadence slept the night away with his Aunt Maria at home. They had dancing, free pictures, hors d'oeuvres, and entertainment! We had a great time!On Sunday, we had Maria, Jaylyn & Sadi, the Britton's & Heidi, & the Dopp's over for Easter dinner after church. We have a tradition of getting Hi-grade ham! YUM! It's the best. We always get a big one so we have plenty of leftovers. Then, we sang in the stake easter fireside with Kory and Shay Dopp!
What a fun weekend!
HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE!

CAUGHT ONE!!!

Cadence is so intrigued by the phone and camera it took forever to get one. It's not the best, but I finally caught one! I LOVE IT!

BIG BLOWOUT!!

Sorry savvy shoppers, this isn't a sale! It's a huge mess for a diaper change. This week, Cadence topped 'em all! He's been a little sick, so it's no surprise. Are hands were so busy we didn't get a chance to take pictures. Let's just say it ended in a bath, taking out the trash, a load of laundry, and our bathroom sink overflowing! What a CRAZY day!
