Cadence has a "fake" smile now when I take pictures. It makes me laugh every time!

Every Monday night is "Family Home Evening", or family night, a night we spend together studying the scriptures and doing fun activities. We also plan out our week and budget together (usually after Cadence goes to sleep). We always start by singing this song and Cadence really loves it!

His new favorite thing! He does one little twirl when he gets excited and loves to play ring Ring Around the Rosey!

Learning, Growing, and Getting into everything!

Cadence has grown so much this past month! He’s helping mommy more and doing so many more things on his own. Just the other day I asked him to go brush his teeth and he went into the bathroom, grabbed the toothbrush from the drawer and went to brushing. Then I asked him to go put it back away and he went back to the bathroom, opened the drawer, put it in, closed it, and then came back to me! I just can’t believe how much he’s growing up! When I tell him it’s time for bed at night, he folds his arms for prayer! We are trying to make the best of his curiosity and learning phase. Here are some pictures for your enjoyment.

St. Patty’s Day

Cade and I spent the day learning a little about the history of Ireland. As they say “On St. Patty’s Day, everyone is Irish”. Many of the traditions we know for the holiday (wearing green, corned beef & cabbage, etc.) are actually American-Irish traditions. We decided to celebrate by wearing green and making some yummy green cupcakes and taking them to friends.

We enjoyed talking about the importance of missionary work and how the Lord prepares nations to receive the gospel, inspired by Patrick. We didn’t celebrate the “leave of lent” however, choosing to refrain from alcohol, we talked about how the Lord gave us bodies we need to care for. It was a rich history/gospel lesson, and a lot of fun!

The Smith’s boys and some of Jarrod’s friends went laser tagging and out to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings for the “bachelor” party.  

 

 

 

 

 

 

     Austin saw a lot of family and friends on the trip and at the reception including grandparents, great-grandma, great-uncles and aunts, old friends, cousins, etc.

    We were sad that Amy & Cadence had to stay home, but glad Austin was able to be apart of everything!

We have a backyard!

  Here is a picture from our trees coming down in February/March. You can see the guy up in the tree cutting off branches, and the pile of in the background is the other tree (the one that fell from the storm). Now our backyard is completely open (minus the shed). It’s nice to have the space, but we are looking to fill it up with some beautiful grass, a bigger garden, and some CHICKENS!! Don’t worry, updates will be coming.

Happy 21st Bday Maria

This was really fun! Mom sent Maria's gift to our house so we got to watch her open it. I posted this mainly so mom could see her reaction when she opened it.

She shares a b-day with Dr. Seuss and really wanted a Dr. Seuss cake, so we surprised her with this one! I made it myself - a very forgiving cake to make for a newbie like me who doesn't know much about cake decorating. Thank you Dr. Seuss!
